This is a subject close to my heart, being a survivor, working on being a thriver. I came across Survivors UK when searching online for help recently, although having seen my abuser sentenced and sent to prison, and having had therapy and counselling I still suffer with dark days and was looking for a little help.

Just knowing you are not on your own can really help, and some of the information I read and saw was helpful. I noticed they were running a campaign for awareness and decided to order a couple of their #WeSeeYou pins.

They arrived today, in with them a letter with some sobering statistics:

“An estimated 12,000 men are raped and 76,000 sexually or assaulted every year. It isn’t easy for men to tell someone what’s happened to them; just 4% will speak about it. And of the few who do, it takes an average of 26 years to do so.”

I am really pleased to see a UK charity taking this so seriously, they can be found at www.survivorsuk.org
